I Won!

I am so excited, I won the giveaway at one of my favorite blogs, Green and Crunchy ! When I arrived home last night this little beauty was waiting for me:

It's a thinksport stainless steel drink bottle. It's insulated to keep drinks hot or cold for hours, is free of BPA, PVC, pthalates, lead, and cadmium. And my favorite part- it has an awesome removable mesh strainer, so I can put loose leaf tea in it and I don't get any leaves in my mouth when I drink it. I am drinking my tea from it as I write this.

I spend ridiculous amounts of time hauling kids around to their various activities, because they all go to different schools. It is going to be amazing to be able to take my tea with me. It's also great for working out, I can fill it with cold water and ice cubes, and the strainer keeps the ice cubes in the bottle instead of my mouth. So a huge Thankyou to Sheri for hosting such a fabulous giveaway and writing such a fabulous blog! And thanks to Thinksport too!

And speaking of working out...On a slightly related note, the American Heart Association released the findings of a new study  in their journal Circulation. The study showed that elderly people who attended cardiac rehab greatly reduced their risk of death. Those who attended 36 sessions were 47% less likely to die than those who only went to one. That's huge! Sadly less than 20% of those eligible for rehab go. The purpose of cardiac rehab is to slow or reverse cardiac disease by changing lifestyle factors. Rehab focuses on exercise, nutrition and stress management. We need to get this country focused on doing these things before disease develops. Prevention is far better than treatment. And as this research shows, it's never too late to begin making healthier changes. You are never too old to exercise. Nuff preaching. I'm off to workout with my awesome new thinksport bottle. Thanks again, Sheri!

Sheri, whoever thought of the strainer idea was a genius! Thanks again!

Sounds like a great bottle. I will be on the lookout for one locally.

Isn't it a shame the number of people that don't go to cardiac rehab? Working in healthcare for so long I can tell you that many people that survive cardiac events have them again within a year because they aren't willing to make changes. Sad, isn't it?

talk to you later,
Alicia
