A local environmental group partnered with a nearby community to host a truckload sale of rain barrels this weekend. I have longed for these for a while, and I was very excited to get two. So hubby and I spent this morning getting them set up. Just as we were finishing, we heard loud thunder. A short downpour filled one completely. The hubs then realized that the second, overflow barrel is not filling because it sits level with the first. So we need to dig out the base of the overflow barrel to lower it a few inches. I am so happy with these, they have screens to keep mosquitoes and debris out of the water, and spigots on the bottom that you can attach a hose to or use to fill a watering can. I am in love! It's funny, my eyes glaze over when women talk about their new shoes or jewelry, I have no interest in that stuff, but some rain barrels,
now you're talking! ;-)
Now onto the food. On Saturday my mom's side of the family had a reunion of sorts, a big potluck picnic. It was wonderful to catch up with relatives I hadn't seen in over twenty years. It's funny, no matter how many years pass, nothing changes family.
Everyone's different, and everyone belongs. Everyone was to bring a dish to share.
